Day 2 of Nia Promotions’ Virtual Launch: Books Shape Our Lives

Books shape our lives.

About a week ago I recorded a podcast for Yasmin at APOOO recollecting my fondest memory with a book club. I was about 16 or 17 years old and Evelyn invited me out to a book club meeting. I went and that moment spearheaded my love of reading for pleasure. In a room full of women twice my age we connected over a good book. And that showed me how powerful three sexy men could be.

Stay tuned to learn my next picks.

Things That Make You Say….Hummmm

Greetings Dana…HEYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY! LOL. Wonderful virtual launch! Keep on doing what you’re doing.
Books that have influenced my life…
I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou; one of the first books I read by an Af-Am author.

Mama Day by Gloria Naylor and There Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston…two wonderful love stories about black love.

Roots–the fact that black folks could actually trace their roots to Africa…30 some years ago that was almost unheard of.

Autobiography of Malcolm X–there was so much more to the man than met the eye.

I could go on and one…but if it’s a book that empowers, inspires, enlightens, educates…and I’ve read it…it’s probably left an impression on me and helped shape, influence who I am today.
